7th Birthday Experience

 Years had passed and I was not able to post on my blog. I'd been very busy for the last few years. I got pregnant twice but the 1st one was a failure. And now I have a one year old baby aside from my daughter who is now 10 years old.

Anyway, I'm back to post new experiences on 7th birthday. As I've said before, here in the Philippines, we celebrate 7th birthday like an 18th birthday. I was able to attend to my husband's niece 7th birthday. It was really cute. These are what the party has:

1. The host is in costume. Since the theme of the party is Disney Princess, the host is wearing a Snow White costume.

2. The celebrator is wearing Cinderella's costume.

3. There are food carts like fishball and dirty ice cream (sorbetes)

4. For the games there, they put a twist on "the boat is sinking, group yourself" game. When they group themselves children hide under a color coded blanket. Then the celebrator will choose if what color she want. That selected color will be eliminated. By the way, while children are hiding under the blanket, the birthday celebrator is not looking so that she won't know if who are under the blanket of this and that color. In that way, when she choose a color, she did not know who are under it. Once selected, she'll be surprise who she has selected to be eliminated. A nice twist ! :)

 5. Program includes the 7 roses where the birthday celebrator dances with his Dad, cousins, Uncles and few friends. It also includes 7 lollipops and 7 candles.

6. The souvenir is a face towel that is rolled and has decorations to like like a cake.

It was last year when my daughter turned seven. I've been thinking about how will we celebrate her birthday one year before her birthday but, unexpected expenses came 3 months before her birthday. So my budget for her birthday was been affected.

Following are the planning and preparation I did to still make her 7th birthday memorable, budget-friendly and worry-free :

• Since her birthday is October and it is a rainy month in the Philippines, I decided to have it celebrated in a fast food restaurant
• I scouted various fast food restaurants and inquire for their party packages. (Mc Donald's, Jollibee, Max's, Burger King, Red Ribbon) In my opinion, it is better to choose the restaurant early (at least 2-3 months before the party) so that you can reserved the party area on your desired date. It is more specially true if the birthdate falls on peak season like December.
• I compared each restaurant's package until I came out to the cheapest one.
• Next thing you'll do is deciding on the theme. My chosen restaurant has various themes so I chose Tinkerbell. I believe that theme will make your party more memorable and easy to prepare.
• You should stick on the theme like buying a Tinkerbell costume for your daughter and a cake with Tinkerbell theme. To be able to get a cheaper costume, you can scout for a discounted costumes on mall on which fortunately I was able to buy at 50% discount. Or you can have it sewn by your local dressmaker. Usually found in dry market area.
• Better choose a restaurant that will take care of all the invitations, balloons, giveaways, prizes, decorations, party host and mascot. And usually these are included in their package. You don't have to worry for the venue since the fast food restaurant will also provide it.
• Don't forget the photos and videos. If your relative has a video cam, then well and good, because you can borrow from them without any cost. You can let your relative to take the video, too.
• To make the party differently, I prepared a program and combined it with the usual restaurant's program. You just need to talk to the host and give her your programme before the party get started. (My next post will be about the programme I made for the party)

I can say that without reading tips online and talking to my friends, I won't came out to a budget-friendly yet memorable 7th birthday party for my daughter.
